With the sun shining and the firepit at the ready to extend the autumn evenings, we are slowly settling into a very indulgent way of life in the country 🙂 For me, there is something wonderful about sitting around a fire in the evenings, just talking and enjoying the company of those that you are with. Real downtime!
Though I do love to cook, I never turn down the opportunity to hand over the reins to hubby and enjoy a good BBQ! Lucky for me, there were a good few occasions the past few weekends. Slow-cooked shoulder of lamb finished on the BBQ with jeweled couscous salad, and honey-mustard pork kebabs with creamy cannelini beans and grilled courgettes. Oh, and pumpkin pie cheesecake with chocolate biscuit base – not on the BBQ of course! 🙂

This coming weekend I am going to break out my recipes for Mulled Cider, Roasted Stuffed Butternut and Sticky Toffee Puddings… Have been dropping hints (not so subtle anymore) that I would really love a slow cooker for my birthday and am hoping that hubby gets the hint. Am in the mood for soups and stews at the moment 🙂
Aside from that, we are waiting for the National Trust to publish their Autumn Events Calendar so that we can plan how to spend our weekends in the Surrey Hills 🙂 Not long now till half term, Halloween and Bon Fire night so have that to get planning for too… and of course a 6th birthday party and a trip to South Africa… time is going to fly by indeed!
Till next time…
Lots of love x
