We are kicking off our Summer 2012 Bucket List with a trip to Ledbury in Herefordshire for a spot of fishing. Unsure of what to expect in terms of Phillipa’s reaction to actually catching a fish, we also made sure that there were other things in the area to keep us occupied 🙂 Having said that, it seems that she would be quite content to just run around, ride her bike and watch the wildlife (read bunnies and swans!) Kids are amazing!

It was with much enthusiasm that we set out yesterday morning. The sun came out and the wind died down and so we took it as a sign. Thankfully the dams here are well stocked (even if mainly with tiddlers and only a few worthy catches) and so before we knew it, we were seeing some action! It turns out that we needn’t have worried too much 🙂 Though she didn’t want to hold the fish after catching it, she was quite happy to stroke it and see it released followed by a “treat” of corn chucked in after it!

Fishing in Ledbury July 2012

Dad maintains that he did eventually snag a “big one” but that it got away and of course there is no photo evidence. Apparently he fought it for half an hour… must have been a shark 😉 Just teasing!

For the moment though, Dad and Phillipa are out fishing again, Erin is having her morning nap and I am blogging. The sun continues to show up from time to time and it is pleasant outside. Bliss! So far everyone has had fun and it has been a great start to ticking off an item from our bucket list. Onwards and upwards from here…

Lots of love
