Yesterday we started getting ready for St Patrick’s Day by making our unicorn trap and rainbow tempter. Phillipa was so excited and we had fun working out what the best way would be to catch a Leprechaun and why it would be most likely that he would in fact be caught and what would happen after that 🙂
My story is as follows… Leprechauns come out to play in our world on the Eve of St Patrick’s Day to have fun and indulge in some mischief. They travel around on rainbow’s and rainbow magic, so if you want to tempt one inside, the best way is to leave a message or a sign for him… for us, a painted rainbow! If you can get him inside, you can tempt him with some fake gold and set a trap and if you catch him, you get to keep his gold (in his world, it is gold, in our world, it turns to chocolate) and he gets to go free 🙂 Beware that he doesn’t repay you with some mischievous prank!
With preparations ready, Phillipa headed up to bed for a decent nights sleep, but was awake with the sparrows from excitement. Lucky all was ready! She found that the trap had been sprung and that she had been left gold nuggets (Fererro Roche) and squealed in delight. She then spotted the “Leprechaun Footprints” leading to the fridge so went to investigate and discovered that the cheeky guy had coloured our milk green as repayment!
After persuading her that we had to at least have some breakfast before enjoying some of the captured bounty, Phillipa helped me to make a St Patrick’s Day smoothie which she enjoyed with a bowl of cereal and the green milk.
St Patrick’s Day Milkshake Recipe:
- 2 Kiwi Fruit
- 1 Green Apple
- 1 Green Pear
- 1 Lime
- 1 tub (500 ml) Plain Yoghurt
- 5 tbsp Honey
- 10 ice-cubes
Chop all the fruit up and add it to the smoothie maker / blender. Whizz up and serve straight away. You can add some vanilla extract or ginger if you fancy too 🙂 This isn’t a super sweet smoothie, but it is delicious and healthy.
For dinner, we are having a BBQ. Pity about the weather, but it is what it is so we will make the most of it and have fun anyway
Hope you all had a really lovely St Patrick’s Day. For those celebrating Mother’s Day tomorrow, happy Mother’s Day.
Lots of love x
